This is an advanced course for psychologists, psychometricians, and guidance counselors (beyond what may be learned in school), newly licensed and seasoned alike, who are involved in doing psychological assessments in different settings.
Psychological screening is an option when practical concerns dictate the conduct of a streamlined assessment process instead of a more comprehensive psychological evaluation. The course introduces a rational and logical method of designing and developing a psychological screening assessment, while considering the assessment needs of stakeholders. It begins with an overview of the rationale and 6 basic steps involved in this process.
Course Objectives:
1. Explain the rationale of a 6-step rational approach in psychological screening;
2. Practice each of the 6 steps with a specific assessment context, namely:
1. Clarify the assessment context;
2. Define the assessment dimensions;
3. Identify assessment methods;
4. Link specific measures with the dimensions;
5. Draft a report format; and
6. Evaluate the assessment process.
